Released in 1991. Produced by Shochiku-Fuji Ltd., TMS Entertainment, and Tokyo Movie Shinsha. Animation by Anime World Osaka, Hanwool, MI, Office Next-One, Studio 88, Studio Marine, and Dongyang Animation.
For centuries, a secret peace treaty has existed between Earth and The Black World, a parallel dimension populated by shape-changers possessing awesome supernatural powers. But now, that pact is up for renewal and a militant faction from the Black World plans to do everything in their power to stop the treaty from being signed. The fate of the world now rests in the ability of a pair of special agents, one a human, the other a shape-changer from the distaff dimension, to make sure things go according to plan.
The Wizardry anime is extremely loyal to the Wizardry game. If any of you are a Wizardry fan then you're in for a real treat. As a classic RPG fan, I immensely enjoyed this anime. While watching it I felt like I was playing Wizardry! (Even though I've never played it.) It has RPG-esk random battles and magic casting. The animation, however, looks dated so I wouldn't quite recommend this anime to everyone. If you're a fan of classic RPGs and 80s anime, I think you'll love it! Also, I recommend watching this YouTube review of the Wizardry game this anime is based on. For one of the first RPGs ever made, it was actually pretty advanced and complex!
