Ramblings: Falcom realized that people enjoyed Ys Book 1 & 2's battle system much more than the 2D system they added to Ys 3, so in Ys 4 they went back to their roots. You'll notice many similarities in the style and such. And that's all I can say about it for the moment, I've only played the first 5 minutes of the game. For the most part, it's definitely beautiful and traditional of the genre. Ah, if you're a knowledgeable classic gamer, you might be asking yourself now "Hey wait a second, those screen shots below are in English. How can this be?
Ys 4 was never officially released in the US! At least I think it never was..." - you are correct, Ys 4 a Japan-only game. However, thanks to the efforts of the wonderful people over at RIGG, their hacking/translation efforts have made it possible for us to be able to experience the game in full English (just the text, not the voices).
