This game has an interesting style of strategy/RPG. It shows the front view of each character, and those characters are BIG. O_o The backgrounds are large and beautiful. It would be interesting to see this game in English.

This game is AWESOME!! The battlefields are now in a 3/4 view. The battle system has been improved to make battles move along at a faster pace. The detailed graphics give it such a realistic feel.

Honestly, my first impression of this game is real negative. It looks and plays like crap. For an SNES game I'd expect better graphics and animation; rather, it looks like a colorized Gameboy RPG. Gideon Zhi of Aeon Genesis is working on this game's translation, but a project page has not been created yet.

A dungeon rpg! =D These are so addicting. And this one looks pretty cool! You get to choose one of several characters to fight with you, kinda like a dungeon version of Magic Sword.

Ah, I had thought Popful Mail was only released for the PC and Sega CD. So here's the SNES version. It's... not what I expected. The graphics are pretty and all, but the character animation is crappy. They hardly took advantage of the Super Nintendo's power. The only fancy graphical effect is a mode 7 world map. I highly doubt this game would ever be fan translated to English, because I've heard that any game made by Falcom is considerably difficult to hack into.

Don't let that 90% get you excited, this game's translation has been on hold since like, 1999. The English beta patch has been released, but they're still not completely done with the translation. Anyway, this game seems pretty cool. It has the same battle system that Dark Half has. I've seen both Record of the Lodoss War anime series, it's a pretty cool fantasy anime (hmm).

Rejoice is a comedy action/RPG! Sort of on the lines of Earthbound, but still keeping a fantasy atmosphere. This is what Gideon Zhi said about it: "It's got a boss called the Ice Cube which sings Ice Ice Baby. The main character is part of a band of thieves who light a guy's house on fire, then have two of 'em help the guy put it out while the other two rob him blind. It's got a song called Bullshit. It's got a bad guy named Dark King Howard. It kicks ASS, and does a damn good job of being silly while it's kicking ass :D" ...lol, yes!

Slayers is one of my most favorite anime series! Slayers RPG seems to be the same style as of Final Fantasy 4. Though the battles are more along the lines of Dragon Warrior. RPGONE Translations had been working on this game's translation during most of the mid 2000's. They came close to finishing it! Unfortunately, the main guy behind the project died of AIDS, and Slayers RPG went along with him. :( At least we can look forward to Slayers Revolution - the new season of Slayers coming out around 2010 (I think).

Yet another excellent game taken under Gideon Zhi's wing. It sure does have impressive graphics! It seems to have a Robotrek/Pokemon thing going on, you build your own robot and battle it against others.

I'm sort of breaking my own rule by covering this non-RPG title. It's entirely a strategy, but a cool one! ;D It's just like Advance Wars on GBA. Obviously, this title was released before it. David says he's going to go full throttle on this game's translation project once he finishes Romancing SaGa.

Tactics Ogre is incredible. The graphics/animation: gorgeous and fluid-like. The storyline: amazing. The battle system: extremely entertaining and full of replay value. The soundtrack: beautiful. It's just perfect; it's a masterpiece. It's much better than the later PSX re-release because the PSX release has annoying loading times and emulation inaccuracies.

A lot of people stumble upon this listing looking for "tactics ogre english" on Google. Unfortunately, I need to disappoint you... THE 100% ENGLISH TACTICS OGRE PATCH DOES NOT EXIST! Ever since the fan based translation scene was active in 2000, the English translation for SNES Tactics Ogre has been bounced around to numerous groups. No one has really shown any progress. The last person to take it was the great Gideon Zhi (the most active ROM hacker/translator). But it's been years and no updates, so we're better off considering the project dead.

Maybe it's just me, but this game has a striking resemblance to the style of Phantasy Star 3 for the Genesis. It's your average SNES RPG; nothing extraordinary.

Also known as "Taloon's Great Adventure". This is a spin-off from Enix's mega-hit Dragon Quest series. It's about a Dragon Quest merchant going off on his own (non-RPG) adventure. The battle system is not truly action/rpg. When you encounter an enemy, you both take turns hitting each other like in a turn-based RPG battle. I HATE games like this. >_< Mostly because Game Gear's Dragon Crystal traumatized me for life.

This game seems pretty cool. Some parts are isometric while other parts are regular 2D. Everything in it is typical for an RPG, except for the way you walk along the world map. You know how you move your units in Ogre Battle? That's how it is.

I've played Xak III for the PC-Engine Super CD, it's neato. This version... well... I couldn't get too far in it so I don't have an opinion yet.

THE 100% LIST

The is the full list of all the SNES RPGs that are 100% complete (or somewhere between 90%-100%). The ones in blue are linked to the shrines that I have created for them. For the games I have not covered, you can go to Romhacking.net for its English patch and EmuRussia to find its ROM. Some of these are non RPG but they are popular among RPG fans. "Read" signifies a game falls under the reading based RPG genre, or "novel RPG" as some call it.
